Cherry Festival Parade

We are looking for a new chair for Cherry Festival 2020. Are you interested in leading or joining the Cherry Festival Parade team? Contact us at

Join the march - not to the Big House - but along Front and Union Streets with U of M Club's A'Maizin Blue float during the National Cherry Festival. The DTE Foundation Cherry Royale Parade is the grand-daddy of them all -- always the last Saturday of Cherry Festival.

For our UofM Club entry for 2020, we are looking for "M"-themed vehicles of all kinds to travel the parade route. Do you know somebody who has a truck that is parade-worthy?  What about a dune buggy?  A boat that could host the Alumni Band and be pulled behind a Maize and Blue pickup?  Or a Jeep?  Tractor? Pontoon? Semi-truck? RV? Motorcycles? Golf carts? Hoverboards? Scooters?  Basically anything with the proper colors could be submitted for approval in the 2020 parade.  Our Club president, Deward Knapp, is the Assistant Director of Parades - Logistics.  He will be able to help determine the eligibility of our entry.  Let's show off our school pride and invite all the participants that want to walk in the parade to join us.  We will have a great time sharing our Wolverine spirit with each other and the huge crowd!
With the right type of vehicles to host the local U-M Alumni Marching Band - under the masterful direction of Pete Deneen - the music will have us cheering and singing Hail to the Victors many times along the route.

Parade participation is open to all local and visiting U-M alumni, students, family, fans and friends of all ages. Wear your colors and join us!

If you are an alumni or current member of the Michigan Marching Band and would like to play on the float, please contact Pete Deneen or

If you would like to help assemble a float (not from scratch!), we'll need to get together by April to make it successful. This is a fun task - join the parade crew!
